Most places will give you non identifying information. By law that is what they are only required to give out. If your parents have their original papers some of them will have the birthmother’s names on them, if you are lucky… You might find a support group to attend for emotional and help in where to look… Sorry but the laws do not help us in our searches in most states. That is another reason to get involved and let the world know you birthparents and adult birthchildren need to have your records open and why it is important that you learn your roots… If for no other reason how stupid it is that they remain sealed… Society is the blame for most closed records which comes from ignorance…. If you don’t have a support group in your area, start one and also get some help on how you need to approach the issues… Thanks, Adoptee that is active in a Support group and has searched and found her heritage… One ended in rejection but the other is very happy they were found…
