New Jersey Adoption Search

New Jersey Adoption Search

Are you conducting a New Jersey adoption search?

A while back, we wrote that a bill to open adoption records in New Jersey had been passed bynew-jersey-adoption-search the New Jersey Senate and was being considered for approval by the New Jersey Assembly.  If passed, an adoptee would have access to his/her original birth certificate as long as a no contact veto was not signed by the birth parents.

Here is that complete post:  Good News About Finding Birth Parents In New Jersey

OmniTrace recently contacted the New Jersey Office Of Legislative Services for an update.  Bill S611 has not yet been approved.  They informed us that Bill S611 has been in Committee (Assembly) since March 2008 and, to date, no schedule has been set for its review.  If and when Bill S611 is approved by the Committee, it will then go before the full Assembly and, if approved, then will be signed by the Governor.  The Office Of Legislative Services could not provide us a time frame.

Also, this bill has an option for a No Contact Veto.  So, if S611 is finally signed by the Governor, New Jersey will have to give the birth parents time to sign the Veto.  This may take up to a year.

You can obtain a copy of the proposed bill here:  S611.  You can also call (609) 292-4840 for information.

We’ll keep you posted on anything new we hear about this important legislation.  In the meantime, here’s good news–OmniTrace can successfully conduct a New Jersey adoption search without access to open adoption records.

I PAID OMNITRACE, STILL NO RESULTS! DUE TO FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS, MY WIFE AND I GAVE UP OUR FIRST SON FOR ADOPTION. HE WAS BORN 11-24-1989 IN OMAHA NE. HE WAS ADOPTED BY “ANDREA AND EDWARD” WHO LIVED IN HACKENSACK COUNTY NJ. I REALIZE THAT IT WAS FOR THE MOST PART “FINAL,” BUT LETS FACE IT HE IS “OUR” BLOOD, WE WANNA KNOW THAT HE IS ALIVE AND WELL AND LET HIM KNOW THAT HE HAS SIBLINGS. WE ALSO WANNA LET HIM KNOW THAT WE LOVE HIM WITH ALL OUR HEARTS. WHAT IS TRULY SAD IS THAT WE GAVE OUR HEART AND SOUL TO THE ADOPTIVE COUPLE AND THEY HAVE ABSOLUTLY NO COMPASSION FOR US. I MEAN “REALLY?” WE GAVE THEM THE GREATEST GIFT THEY COULD EVER GET AND THEN TURN THERE BACK ON US LIKE WE WAS LEPERS! IF ANY ONE KNOW ANYTHING PLEASE ADVISE! MUCH HOPE WE FIND OUT SOMETHING.

Hi Steve. One of our researchers will contact you shortly to explain where we are with our search for your birth son. Sorry this search is taking so long, but your son is still very young and does not have much of a paper trail, and we are having difficulty developing information on him.
