Phone Number Search & Unlisted Reverse Address Search Tip:
One of the best ways to do an unlisted reverse phone number search or an unlisted reverse address search is to do a search on a search engine to see if the phone number or address and any related information is published on any web pages. We like to use Google, Yahoo, Ask and MSN for this, as each will contain slightly different phone and address records.
Internet Telephone Directories
Here is a current list of telephone directories on the Internet.

If the phone number is a cell phone number, you will obtain valuable people search information by obtaining the name of the cell phone provider and the general area where the account holder resides.

Here are links to property assessment databases from around the country that allow you to search online, usually by owner name or property address, in order to find the assessed values of properties. Sex Offenders - Nationwide – Family Watchdog
Here is a tool to determine if you have any sex offenders in your neighborhood. It can also be used to locate someone if you suspect they are a sex offender. We like this Family Watchdog web site for its ease of use and it covers all 50 states. The data comes from the various state sex offender registries. Please note: If you visit the individual state offender registries, you might get a little more detail on the offender–but not much more. You can also sign up on Family Watchdog to obtain an alert if a sex offender moves to your neighborhood.
Here is another National Sex Offender Registry provided by the Department of justice. We love being redundant!
Social Security Death Index
The Social Security Death Index is provided by the U.S. Social Security Administration who maintains a Death Master File.
You can search the Death Index by entering one or more fields in the form and clicking the submit button. You’ll receive better, more accurate results by restricting the number of fields you input. For instance, if you submit just a name you will obtain every listing in the index. However, if you submit a name and a year of birth, you will only obtain records on persons whose name and year of birth were indexed. Some years of birth may not be in the Death Master File. So, whenever possible, use the simple form to conduct searches.
Please note that not every death is indexed. Several reasons why a name may be excluded are:
- The death was not reported to the Social Security Administration.
- The death occurred before the Death Master File was entered into a computer database–this started around 1962.
- The person did not participate in the Social Security program.
- Survivor death benefits were or are being paid to dependents.
- A recent death may not yet be indexed.
- Human error when data entering.

Social Security Number Validator
Before you spend time and money requesting a Social Security Number search, make sure the number you have is valid.
Tax Assessor Database
This is a great database to find a tax assessor office anywhere in the country. Why would you want to do that? Because a tax assessor has access to address information dating back several years. This information is public record which they will willingly share with you. A tax assessor has information about real (real estate) and personal property (auto, machinery, mobile homes, etc.).
To utilize a tax assessor’s office to find someone, (1) supply them with your missing person’s old address and ask for phone and address information on the current owner. The current owner may have information on your missing person’s whereabouts. (2) supply them with any information you have on the missing person and they may provide you with the missing person’s current address and property information–if the information is on record.
WhitePages.com
There are countless white page directory websites. This one is as good (perhaps slightly better) than the rest. It has a phone directory, business directory, zip code finder, area code finder and reverse zip finder. You can search by a name, phone number and address. You can also perform a reverse phone number search.
Wink.com
Wink is a free people search engine that helps you find people at social networks, blogs, and across the Web. This is a very useful website when more conventional searches of white pages and other people search databases have failed you. Wink includes a name search plus location, school search, employment search and a hobbies and interests search.
Zaba Search
Zaba is a very powerful database resource. If you input a name, you will obtain a list of possible matches along with address info – for free. Some of the address information comes from credit header records (we’ll be teaching our readers about credit headers in a future post). Warning: Many of the addresses displayed on Zaba will not be current. To obtain more current address information, you will be asked to pay a fee. We’re going to teach you how to use Zaba in conjunction with other people search resources so you don’t have to pay any fee at all.
And, of course, if you need to find someone fast and don’t mind an inexpensive search fee, please contact us at OmniTrace! ![]()
