Find Adoptee | Search By Date Of Birth Of Child
Adoptee Search
You may be surprised that you can find an adoptee by having just the date of birth of your
birth child. It’s true: having just a date of birth can lead to a successful adoptee search!
If you can recall your child’s date of birth, online databases are available to compile a list of persons, along with their addresses and phone numbers, born on that date of birth who currently or previously have been associated with the state where the adoptee was born. This list might be quite large, depending on the state, but will give you a reasonable chance to find your birth child by placing phone calls and writing letters.
(If you do not recall the exact date of birth, there are several ways you may obtain it, which we will provide you shortly in a future post.)
Of course, any additional identifying information on your birth child that you have or can obtain in addition to the date of birth will help you develop an even better, more focused list–or perhaps even an exact match. Helpful information might include:
- The amended (adoptive) first and/or last name of your birth child
- The first and/or last names of the adopting parents
- The age range of the adopting parents
- The non-amended, (original name) of your birth child
- The occupation of the adopting parents
- The area where the adopting parents resided at the time of the adoption
- The race and religion of the adopting parents
- The education of the adopting parents
- The name of the adoption agency or attorney that handled the adoption
- The name of the birth physician
- The name of the birth hospital
- When the adopting parents applied to adopt
- The hobbies of the adopting parents
- The medical history of the adopting parents
- The physical description of the adopting parents
- Other historical information
Some or all of the above information might be developed from a number of sources that we will write about shortly. We’ll also discuss statewide date of birth searching.

There is a Gregory Allen born with that birth date. Gregory must have been a popular name that year because there are 25 with the same birth date. There are a couple of Gregory A. but only one Gregory Allen that I have found. Did you know anything about the parents that adopted him? The one I found does not live in Indiana. Do you know the families last name? With a last name and birthdate is usually pretty easy to find someone.

I’m searching for my daughter, born 1/31/1977 @ I believe Kennewick Memorial Hospital, Kennewick, WA thru a Seventh Day Adventist Adoption Agency located in Pasco, WA. She was 8 lbs, 6 oz & 21′ long w/beautiful peach color hair. I have URGENT MEDICAL info she needs to know about especially not only for herself but if has any children. I did not want to give her up, i was very young, my parents talked me into it; I loved her so much I wanted her to have more instead of less but I cried for months after her birth and every year since; the pain & ache for her, to at least see her one time before I die has never gone away. I will not disrupt her life but she’s welcome in mine. My husband knows of her as if he wanted me, he had to know of her as I’ve always had my door ready for her to walk thru. I lived at the director’s home, Mrs. Bradshaw in Pasco, WA & her husband is a dentist in Pasco, Dr. Robert Bradshaw and is still practicing. I heard my daughter’s adopted parents divorced and has a brother. I hope she’s been very happy. Please help.

you mentioned online ways of looking up adopted children by date of birth. what are some of those sources?
Sometimes if you have just a little information a person can be found. A birthdate and first name makes it pretty easy as long as the adoptive parent does not change the first name. Many people know the last name of the family who adopted their child and that makes it easy too. There is not just one web site online to look for people. I use many and then I just go by gut feelings. Sorry, I know that really does not give you an answer to your question.
If your Mom has his birth date why does she not know a last name?
my mother is the adopted child, so I guess we are really looking for parents…if you could help me find some things I’d be very greatful! My birth mother AND birth father are adopted so I know nothing about my history! info we have is:her father was an aviation mechanic in the service-don’t know what branch-was born 9/18/1937, married sometime in 1957(valdosta,ga), had a son in 1957(valdosta,ga),and my mother’s DOB 8/8/1959 and was named Linda. I figured there couldn’t be that many aviation mechanics w/ that DOB in valdosta during that time, butI’m going crazy!

One is still unaccounted for:he was born Michael Dennis Llewellyn on 12/25/1957 in Valdosta, Ga – most likely at moody AFB – and was placed for adoption by GA state around 1962-1966. Any suggestions on how to look for him?

I am in search of my half-brother who is 18 months younger than me. He is 26 now. Our mother was very young when we were born, and I was born with a very rare disease and as a child spent the majority of my life in the hospital, so our mother felt it was best for all 3 of us to place him up for adoption so neither of us were neglected. His DOB is either 3/16 or 3/17 year was 1983. He was adopted at birth, so he was never given a name that I am aware of. He was born at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill, PA. His birth parents names are Valorie Grogan and David Coughlin, both of which are white/caucasian. He was adopted out through Golden Cradle Adoptions. At that time, GCA was out of Philadelphia, PA. I also forgot to mention that since his birth, my mom has had 3 more children (which she kept) Barbara (age 22), Jimmy (age 15) and Sarah (age 11 as of next week), my sister Barbara also has a 1 yr old son, Xavier. HE WAS BORN IN GRAND RAPIDS MICHIGAN AT THE SALVATION ARNMY HOME FOR UNWED MOTHERS. HE WASA RAISED IN A PROTESTANT CHURCH IN A RURAL AREA OF GRAND RAPIDS. AT THE AGE OF THREE HE WAS DESCRIBED AS A LARGER THEN AVERAGE 3 YEAR OLD, HAD LARGE BROWN EYES AND LIGHT BROWN HAIR. HE ALSO ENJOYED BOOKS AT THAT AGE. STILL HOPING FOR SOME HELP IN FINDING HIM.

Did you name him?
I was not allowed to do that, matter of fact I never even got see him. I was not 18 yet and my mother signed papers that I was to have no contact at all. I can still hear his cry when he was born.
Since you know information on the adoptive family do you have a last name? Also, you could do a search on your name to see if he is looking for you.

I have found out some more information about my birthson. He was born on 1/23/67 in the Salvation Army home on Fuller and Fulton in Grand Rapids MI. He was adopted into a family that lived in a rural area around grand rapids, his adopted parents , I believe, worked in a factory that one of their parents owned, or perhaps a farm. His adopted mother was very petit but his father was ssaid to be large. I hope there is someone out their tha can help me find my son, I have medical problems that I feel he needs to be aware of.
