Find Adoptee | Search By Date Of Birth Of Child
Adoptee Search
You may be surprised that you can find an adoptee by having just the date of birth of your
birth child. It’s true: having just a date of birth can lead to a successful adoptee search!
If you can recall your child’s date of birth, online databases are available to compile a list of persons, along with their addresses and phone numbers, born on that date of birth who currently or previously have been associated with the state where the adoptee was born. This list might be quite large, depending on the state, but will give you a reasonable chance to find your birth child by placing phone calls and writing letters.
(If you do not recall the exact date of birth, there are several ways you may obtain it, which we will provide you shortly in a future post.)
Of course, any additional identifying information on your birth child that you have or can obtain in addition to the date of birth will help you develop an even better, more focused list–or perhaps even an exact match. Helpful information might include:
- The amended (adoptive) first and/or last name of your birth child
- The first and/or last names of the adopting parents
- The age range of the adopting parents
- The non-amended, (original name) of your birth child
- The occupation of the adopting parents
- The area where the adopting parents resided at the time of the adoption
- The race and religion of the adopting parents
- The education of the adopting parents
- The name of the adoption agency or attorney that handled the adoption
- The name of the birth physician
- The name of the birth hospital
- When the adopting parents applied to adopt
- The hobbies of the adopting parents
- The medical history of the adopting parents
- The physical description of the adopting parents
- Other historical information
Some or all of the above information might be developed from a number of sources that we will write about shortly. We’ll also discuss statewide date of birth searching.

Do you know the name of the foster parents who had him? Usually when kids go up for adoption the foster parents have first choice so maybe he is still with them.
Do you remember the foster parents names who he was with before being adopted? Were there names Greg and Linda? The Justin I found lives in Batavia, OH and has the same birthdate. It could be the right one.

Did you name him when he was born? Many times the adoptive parents change their adoptive children’s names. However, if they still have the same first name they can be found.
I am looking for my nephew who was put up for adoption at birth. He was born in Philadelphia on May 14, 1989. My brother, his father’s name is Stephen Patrick Poglitsch. The baby’s birth mother was Mary Beth Goss (sp?). They were both teenages at the time and gave the baby up for adoption. I named her Charlotte, the caseworker from DHS, Darlene Larwence may have given her my last name, Burnett. Charlotte was born on May the 8th 1982 in Harrison Arkansas at the Boone County Hospital. She had red hair and blue eyes at birth.

What state did they live in? Also, do you have middle names? Many times when kids are adotped they do change their names but if they were a little older then first and middle names might be the same as they were at birth.

I am looking for my son who was born on March 28, 1988 at McKeesport Hospital, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. His name at birth was Christopher Duane Slachta. His adoption was handled by Elizabeth Duncan in Glassport, PA. She helped unwed mothers at the time. I have been searching for some time now. I wanted to see how he is and to let him know that he has 2 sisters, ages 18 & 16, who would love to meet him. I am sorry but I had already looked and could not find anything. Many times if the children are newborn’s the adoptive parents change their names. If they are older when adopted is is usually easier to find them with a first name and birth date.
