Find Adoptee | Search By Date Of Birth Of Child
Adoptee Search
You may be surprised that you can find an adoptee by having just the date of birth of your birth child. It’s true: having just a date of birth can lead to a successful adoptee search!
If you can recall your child’s date of birth, online databases are available to compile a list of persons, along with their addresses and phone numbers, born on that date of birth who currently or previously have been associated with the state where the adoptee was born. This list might be quite large, depending on the state, but will give you a reasonable chance to find your birth child by placing phone calls and writing letters.
(If you do not recall the exact date of birth, there are several ways you may obtain it, which we will provide you shortly in a future post.)
Of course, any additional identifying information on your birth child that you have or can obtain in addition to the date of birth will help you develop an even better, more focused list–or perhaps even an exact match. Helpful information might include:
- The amended (adoptive) first and/or last name of your birth child
- The first and/or last names of the adopting parents
- The age range of the adopting parents
- The non-amended, (original name) of your birth child
- The occupation of the adopting parents
- The area where the adopting parents resided at the time of the adoption
- The race and religion of the adopting parents
- The education of the adopting parents
- The name of the adoption agency or attorney that handled the adoption
- The name of the birth physician
- The name of the birth hospital
- When the adopting parents applied to adopt
- The hobbies of the adopting parents
- The medical history of the adopting parents
- The physical description of the adopting parents
- Other historical information
Some or all of the above information might be developed from a number of sources that we will write about shortly. We’ll also discuss statewide date of birth searching.

My sister and I are looking for our birth brother he was born in 1979 we think in May. we believe in the San Antonio area. His name back then was Dondee Tice. There were three girl born with our birth family Patricia born in July 1977, Veronica born in June 1978 and Cynthia born in December 1980. Our birth parents names were Sylvia and Luther. I had a baby girl when I was 15 years old. Her father was 26 at the time. My mother made me give her up for adoption. She was born on October 8 or 9, 1969. The last time I tried to get in contact with her, I was told by an agency that they only info they could give me was that she was adopted by a couple in southern Indiana. Date of birth and place of birth go a long way. You should look into every adoption reunion forum out there, especially those for the state where she was born. Also consider national registries like the ISSR http://www.isrr.org/. It is very difficult for birth mothers to find adoptees, however the forums may help. Blessings, Vickilynn

I’m looking for the birth parents to a baby boy born March 17, 1969 at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus Ohio.
He has never searched for his birth parents but I had a daughter with him in 1991 and she has some medical conditions that can not be explained. My beautiful daughter got married to the love of her life on April 21, 2012 in Columbia, South Carolina and we need to know her medical history before they plan to have my grand babies. Starting a search for a 15 year old girl, should be going by Taylor Christine, was named Carlye-Jo Rene Matthews on April 27, 1997 @ Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL. Was adopted through Catholic Social Services by Larry & Christine (possibly from Minnesota) supposed parents of Christine are Bill & Carol Norvell.
My 16 year old daughter has always known we had to place her infant sister for adoption, even after taking her home for 2 weeks & handing her over on Mothers Day in May of 1997.
My 16 year old daughter has been questioning the whereabouts and the who what when where why and how’s for several years now.
As a result of the adoption, I couldn’t bear to have anymore children, believing since I placed one for adoption that I didn’t deserve anymore.

I am looking for my son. He was born at 11:50 p.m. on 9/11/1983 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. I was told that he was being adopted by a student at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield and would be taken care of while the student finished her schooling by the grandmother who was from Granite City, IL.
